A Mother's Love: The Story of Sherine

In a heartfelt journey, Dr. Mostafa El Sayed recounts his mother Sherine's struggles and sacrifices as a single parent. Despite financial hardships, she worked tirelessly to support her children, instilling in them the values of resilience and love. As Mostafa grows up, he vows to repay her sacrifices, ultimately achieving success and bringing joy back into her life. This touching narrative highlights the enduring bond between a mother and her children.
In a modest household of Dr. Mostafa El Sayed, his daughter, Taqi, followed him like his shadow. Taqi was a small girl, just five years old. Taqi: Daddy, we have to go to Grandma's. Father: Okay, Taqi, I know your grandmother is the most precious thing to you.

Taqi: Of course, she's my beloved. Father: You know, Taqi, your grandmother suffered a lot between me and my siblings. Taqi: How? Father: Do you want to know your grandma's story? Taqi: Of course. Father: Alright, let's go, and I'll tell you on the way.

In fact, Dr. Mostafa, the famous gynecologist, was a man not conventionally handsome but a true man who adored his mother. Today, he was on his way to see her for Mother's Day. Despite his wife’s passing, his mother never left his side, always assisting him in raising his daughter.

Whenever she visited her other grandchildren, Taqi would miss her as she was missing her now. Taqi: Grandma will come back with us, right? Mostafa: Yes, indeed. Taqi: Okay, tell me Grandma's story. Mostafa: I'll tell you, but on one condition. Taqi: What is it?

Mostafa: No interruptions at all. Taqi: Okay, go ahead. Mostafa: Alright, hahaha. Days passed, and the mother spent from the money she had until it ran out. Mostafa saw her in her room through the door as she took a small gold box out of the wardrobe, opened it, and cried.

He realized then it was her wedding jewelry from his father, which she always treasured and said it was the most precious thing in her life. Mostafa couldn't stand it anymore, opened the door, and entered. When she felt his presence, she quickly wiped her tears and turned to him.

Sherine: Mostafa, my dear, come here. He approached her sadly, looking at the box in her hand. Mostafa: Why did you bring out Dad's jewelry? Sherine: With sadness, brushing his hair tenderly. Sherine: You know the money is gone, and we need groceries and your siblings' needs.

There's nothing left except to sell it. Mostafa: But they are very precious to you. Sherine: You are more precious than anything. Mostafa, promising: I swear, when I grow up, I’ll buy you lots of gold. Sherine, kissing his cheek: God willing.

Months passed in financial difficulty, but at the same time, Mostafa studied hard and was incredibly distinguished. When he returned from school, he taught his siblings, ensuring they excelled like him. But seeing sadness in his mother's eyes pained him deeply.

Then one day, the doorbell rang. Mother: Open the door, Mostafa. Mostafa opened the door and found the landlord, Mr. Mohammed. Mohammed: How are you, Mostafa? Mostafa, politely: Thank God. Please come in, uncle. The man entered as Sherine approached and spoke to him.

Sherine: Welcome, Mr. Mohammed. Mohammed, slyly: I came to ask for your hand. Sherine: Ask for what? I don’t understand. Mohammed: I ask for you in marriage. Sherine: Mr. Mohammed, I respect you like my father, and note 'father'.

After my husband passed, my life is for my children only, and there's nothing else in my head. I hope you understand. Mohammad, nervously: Oh, oh, alright. Mostafa watched as his mother collapsed to the floor, crying heavily. He rushed to her, hugging her, crying with her.

Mostafa: Don’t cry, Mama. Sherine, holding him: I'm not crying, dear. May God keep you for me. Days passed, and Sherine tried to seek help from her husband's siblings, but as usual, everyone fled from responsibility. She didn’t know what to do as they faced increasing hardships.

Sherine was always searching for a job, but everyone demanded experience. Mostafa noticed his mother leaving every day from morning to afternoon and returning very sick. She always hid her pain behind a tender smile for her children, wanting their happiness, but Mostafa saw it.

He noticed she had become very thin, losing weight, but he didn’t know what was happening. Until he entered her room one day. Mostafa found his mother sitting sadly. Mostafa: Mom, can I ask you something? Mother: Go ahead, dear.

Mostafa: Where do you go every day? Mother: Look, Mostafa, I won’t hide it from you because you’re a man. That’s why you need to know that Mama never did anything wrong. I'm truly tired of these conditions, but God is generous and loves me; that’s why He tests me.
